181 First Aid Treatment: Fight Dengue

We are all aware that cases of dengue in the Philippines increases during rainy days wherein there are plenty of breeding spots for dengue carrying mosquitoes. According to Department of Health (DOH) signs and symptoms of dengue are the following:

  • abrupt onset of high fever that can last for 2 to 7 days
  • aching muscles and joints
  • pain at the back the eyes
  • weakness
  • Having skin rashes or tiny red spots on person’s skin
  • experiencing nosebleed once fever starts to drop
  • pain in the abdomen (abdominal pain)
  • vomiting
  • stools are dark-colored


DOH recorded more dengue cases this 2011 compared to 2010 (last year). According to their record there are already 40,648 cases of dengue in the Philippines from January 2011 to July 31, 2011 and 328 dengue patients died. Department of Health also recommend using the ‘181’ for first aid treatment for person suspected having dengue disease.


Preparation Procedure:
Mix 1 liter of water, 8 teaspoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt

Dosage:
Drink 1 Solution every two hours
*1 Solution = 1 liter of water + 8 teaspoons of sugar + 1 teaspoon of salt

Note: 181 First Aid Treatment is an alternative oral rehydration solution. 181 First Aid Treatment cures early sign of dengue or mild case of dengue. It is still better to see doctor if you have dengue signs and symptoms
